March 14th, 1997 Letter to Elders in the United States

Letter to all JW Elders requesting child molestation information

The March 14th, 1997 letter to Jehovah’s Witness elders is a significant document that provides an open admission that some Elders and Ministerial Servants currently holding these positions have been found guilty of child molestation in the past.

The letter directs elders to create a report for the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society containing the names of all “known” child molesters and were required to answer a series of questions and send this information to headquarters in a “special blue” envelope.

This letter was marked as “confidential” and is the basis for understanding the amassing of a large database of child abusers within the Jehovah’s Witness Church headquarters.
