Philip Brumley, along with the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania are appealing the Court-imposed sanctions against Brumley for his role in misleading the Court by misrepresenting information about Watch Tower Pennsylvania. Brumley submitted two affidavits to the court early in the case in an effort to support the exclusion of Watch Tower as a co-defendant. His statements led to a 17-month legal battle over the jurisdiction issue and cost the plaintiff’s legal team almost $200,000 in legal fees and expenses.

Judge Elizabeth Best responded to the Plaintiff’s request for sanctions by imposing over $154,000 in fines against Philip Brumley and Watch Tower Pennsylvania. The fines have been paid, but Brumley and Watch Tower have decided to appeal this Order to the 9th Circuit Federal Appellate Court.
