In August of 2021, The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York entered into a private settlement agreement with Alexis Nunez. This action ended the civil litigation that was opened on September 28th, 2016.

While neither the plaintiff nor the legal parties involved may discuss the terms of the settlement agreement, the case documents amassed over a 5-year period are a matter of public record and may be presented on this site as a historical record of the proceedings.

There is much to learn from these documents, the trial, the appeal to the Montana Supreme Court, and the ensuing battle that followed when the case entered a new phase in 2021.

In the end, the Jehovah’s Witnesses decided that their fight against turning over critical documents was a greater risk than the cost of agreeing to a financial settlement. While Watchtower will never admit guilt or defeat, the settlement is a victory for Ms. Nunez and survivors of child abuse everywhere.
